Your Road to Recovery from Tilda Foodservice

HERE TO HELP

As hospitality opens back up, now is the time to show consumers what they have been missing. Returning bigger and better than before, more efficient and streamlined, but equally with a focus on creating a real experience that can help rebuild consumer confidence. From creating a theatre of cleanliness to smarter menus and takeaway options, to making the most of outdoor space. We understand that things have been tough, but we are moving in the right direction and as we do, we’re here to help with some practical hints and tips.

THE NEW NORMAL

Customer Concerns

  • Trust – consumers will only choose operators they can trust
  • Theatre of cleanliness – they are looking for clear clues and reassurance that their whole experience (when it comes to cleanliness) is hitting the mark
  • Value for money – with recessionary pressures ahead, consumers are spending wisely
  • Healthier options – the trends for plant-based and healthier eating in general have grown greatly during lock-down
  • Takeaway / delivery options – both are now seen as a safer way to enjoy eating in or out
  • The Lipstick Effect – as with any crisis, consumers will still look to treat themselves with comfort food and trusted brands
  • Stand Out Experiences – having been denied the excitement of dining out for so long consumers will seek real experiences
  • Customisation – with consumers having had complete control over dining at home offering the opportunity to customise dishes will be key
  • Quality & Provenance - Quality of food is the no. 1 consumer decision maker (at 28% according to Lumina Intelligence) with a focus on premiumisation and provenance
  • Contactless – Whether it is ordering and payment, or even choosing dishes with reduced service contact like vending.
  • Outdoor Dining – Consumers may still feel more comfortable outdoors especially in the summer whether its creative alfresco dining options, pub gardens or picnics.
  • Speed & Convenience – making sure service is quick and efficient will be key to keeping customers happy now more than ever

Industry Impact

  • Contactless service – contactless ordering and payment platforms will continue to be the go-to, as well as reduced contact menu solutions like our ready to heat Steamed Range
  • Technology solutions – from click and collect to delivery apps and QR code menus, technology is key
  • Take home – dishes that travel well are essential as customers look to enjoy your food, in their own homes
  • Delivery – whether through a third party or direct, it’s another important way to drive sales and make up for lost seats in capacity
  • Take home recipe kits – with people having spent more time cooking at home, offer recipe kits they can take home to cook themselves. Meal kits also cut down on food waste, and by including easy to follow step by step instructions it will encourage home cooks to extend their repertoire. Tilda has been working with Hello Fresh since 2015 and our RTH pouches are an integral part of their quick and easy offering.
  • Outdoor space – seen as safer, those with outdoor space can capitalise on the summer weather for extra capacity
  • Managing overheads – now is a crucial time to limit overheads in order to balance the books
  • Driving margin – maximising margin from every dish with savvy menu engineering is key
  • Limited capacity – in the short term this will remain an issue until the sector can fully re-open
  • Quick & Easy – Our new Steamed Range offers a low contact, low skill option to help you turn around hot meals simply and easily, offering great flavours to elevate your plate
  • Additional Revenue Streams – from meal kit delivery boxes where known brand inclusions are desired, to online experiences, click and collect and delivery, there is likely to be the need for additional revenue streams as demand continues and operators look to maximise income wherever they can.
  • Dog Friendly Dining – with the upsurge in dog ownership now might be the time to welcome our four legged-friends to encourage customers through the door

Maximising margin with on-trend dishes offering quality and value for money will be key to bouncing back successfully…and that’s where Tilda can help you.
