The Nebraska Golf Association’s 8th Fall Junior Series was completed last month and post-series awards recognizing the Team Champions of the FJS, as well as the FJS All-Star Team and Captain have been awarded. See the event champions below, and find out who took home the post-series awards.
PIN SHOT is Fall Junior Series Team Champion
On the strength of a win and a runner-up finish, PIN SHOT was named the 2019 Fall Junior Series Team Champion. The team of Rex Soulliere, Jacob Hellman and Porter Topp of Omaha received new Bushnell iON 2 GPS Watches as their prize. PIN SHOT won the first event of the series, the Frontier at Awarii Dunes Golf Club in Axtell. Soulliere finished tied for third with a round of 74 (+3) to help the team to a one-stroke victory. In the next event, the Pioneer at Indian Trails Country Club in Beemer, Soulliere again led the team with a 73 (+2) to finish second individually. PIN SHOT tied for runner-up in the team race, six strokes back of first. They ended the series with a fifth place finish at the Explorer at Fremont Golf Club, which was good enough to clinch the overall title. Soulliere is a senior and Topp a freshman at Omaha Creighton Prep, while Hellman is junior at Omaha Westside.
The individual FJS All-Star Team was also announced, and is headlined by Omaha’s Josh Kramer, the Team Captain. Kramer won the Frontier event in a playoff, tied for third at the Pioneer and wrapped up the series with a T-4 finish at the Explorer. Joining Kramer on the team is Elkhorn’s Luke Gutschewski, Grand Island’s Marcus Eriksen, Omaha’s Charlie Zielinski and Soulliere. Kramer is a senior at Omaha Creighton Prep. Gutschewski, who won the Pioneer event and was runner-up at the Explorer, is a junior at Mount Michael in Elkhorn, while Eriksen, the Explorer champion, is senior at Grand Island Northwest. Zielinski, who lost in the Frontier playoff to Kramer, is also a senior and attends Omaha Skutt Catholic.
