André Kellerberg, originally from Germany, but living in CZ for almost 2 decades- is a classically trained pianist and composer who bridges and merges different genres- with classical, rock, electronic and ambient music elements- to create a unique soundscape, intimate but with a distinct fresh indie vibe. His latest album "Irradiant" also caught much interest by well established neoclassical artists like Michael Price.

André Kellerberg will release his new album in Spring 2020 on Blue Spiral Records.

"I guess my style is different and unorthodox when compared to classical piano players. I learned classical music (Beethoven and Bach being my center points) when I was young and even intended to study it, but then went on a different path professionally as it was quite impossible at that time due to my family’s resistance to pursue a musical career. Over the years I played guitar in Metal and avant-garde bands, did some DJing and experimented with electronic music before approx. 5 years ago getting back to the piano as the main facilitator of my musical expression. I would describe my music as rather minimalistic, but yet of highly expressionistic and passionate nature to cover complex emotions. Since I was a child, improvising on the piano was my greatest comfort, no matter what life threw in my way. And I suppose that approach helps me to connect with other people on a deeper level through my music."

Outlook 2020

In 2019 André released more new music that has been recorded in 2018-Irradiant plus a special rough electronic ambient record- Backbone Flute Intermezzos. Between May and June he also recorded the follow up to Irradiant which will be released in spring 2020 via Blue Spiral Records. Recording took place at the regular spot in Prague- Studio Faust, with sound engineering and production by Derek Saxenmeyer. He will also collaborate with Viennese Soundartist Jakob Schauer (www.jakobschauer.com) on a special piano/noise/drone music project which will see its release by end of 2020/early 2021.

André was also the organizer of the Piano Day Event in Ostrava on the 29.03. 2019, a city close to which he currently lives. He also cooperated with new czech label Interpret Null in spring 2019 with further cooperations planned for fhe future.

Through 2020 André intends to tour Europe (focus on CEE) with an intimate piano solo show that covers pieces from his so far released albums, but also new material. On some concerts he will also be joined by Jakob Schauer to further work on their collaboration in a live setting.

Light Breaks Where No Sun Shines- Debut album, released September 2017

Bandcamp

The result of a years long journey through different genres and experimentating was Andrés 2017 debut album “Light Breaks Where No Sun Shines” which was recorded in Studio Faust in Prague. The underlining narrative of the record was inspired by the works of welsh poet Dylan Thomas (“Rage, rage, against the dying of the light” became the motto of the writing and recording process).

East End Glory X- 2nd album, released November 2018

Bandcamp

The 2018 follow up “East End Glory X” was inspired by both travels to Moscow and his time there, but also his admiration for the works of American neo-expressionist painter Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Inspiration can come from all sorts of angles and directions, from cities, travels, music, art, movies, food, smells, conversations with people, peoples gestures, noises, rhythmic patterns of electronic household devices and so on, which gets translated into their own harmonic/melodic narrative.

Irradiant

Irradiant was recorded during the same sessions as "East End Glory X" (in Prague in summer 2018), but explores more on sounddesign (as noticeable in the first and final tracks of the album), offering a more "down to earth" and rawness in the musical expression (e.g. "Dusthead" or "Le Voyeur Immortel").

Backbone Flute Intermezzos

Over the last couple of years, numerous tracks came up when simply experimenting with apps on an ipad and a USB keyboards at airports, hotel rooms, cafes in cities between Barcelona and Moscow. Little "intermezzos" between the sonically more advanced piano/electronica records.
