Extended Essays Book: research that promotes creativity and intellectual development!

At a Virtual Ceremony, we presented the Second Edition of the Extended Essay Book, which is a collection of several research papers produced by our alumni of the Second and Third Prescott Classes of the IB Diploma Program (2018 and 2019).

This demanding research was carried out during the two years of the Diploma Programme (10th and 11th grades) and allowed our alumni to apply their research and writing skills.

With the presence of their families and teachers, we recognized the effort and perseverance of this group of young authors:

Verklempt, Class of 2018: Gabriel Carpio Ochoa, Fariba León Tejada and Alejandra Usnayo Cuba. - Forelsket, Class of 2019: Camila Castillo Zegarra, Adriana Delgado Arce, Fiorella Flores Jiménez, Gloria Gómez Bernedo, Kamila Hidalgo Herrera, Valeria Marino Zegarra, Ana Belén Moscoso Gonzales, Ariana Müller Herrera, Gabriel Neyra Gallegos, Fiona Pepper Yriberry, Micaela Rojas Díaz, Paolo Román Román and Fernando Zúñiga Muñoz.
All these papers were compiled in a book which will be part of the catalog of the National Library in Peru after the corresponding legal deposit is made. This means that they will be recognized authors with their first academic research published.

We would like to share with you a general overview of this important publication:

The Extended Essay is a written work of 4000 words on a topic of interest to the students. The topics covered in this book were in: Language and Literature, English, Global Politics, History, Sciences, Mathematics and Visual Arts.

Congratulations to our Alumni on this great achievement! Without a doubt, it is the first among many that you will complete in the future!

Although we are not present at School, our generous spirit does not stop. Thus, we have moved our traditional “Kilo Day” to our homes with a “Kilo from home”, a solidary campaign with which we seek to continue helping every month all those in need during these hard times.

During the months of July and August, members of Prescott Community helped with a voluntary donation to a different institution. Our students of 10th and 11th grades took charge of promoting this important team effort.

Señor de los Milagros Parish, which provides food service to vulnerable citizens in Mariano Melgar area.
San Vicente de Paúl Home, a place that provides assistance to abandoned elderly women in our city.

Both institutions sent us videos to thank us, which we would like to share with the whole Community:

Let us keep helping every month and demonstrating that mutual help is fundamental to overcome difficult times!

Professional Vocational Orientation Virtual Fair: “Set your dreams in motion”

From August 17 to the 28, the Professional Vocational Orientation Virtual Fair was held through the “In Motion Blog”, a place in our new site, exclusive for Prescott students.

With the theme “Set your dreams in motion” we created a virtual place where our students of 9th, 10th and 11th grades and their families could have access to materials regarding majors, study opportunities and vocational orientation, which will guide and support them in this important stage in their lives in order to make decisions about their professional future.

Talks about majors, vocational orientation and live forums

With the participation of over 30 universities and local, national and international institutes, our students had access to several live talks and forums according to their interests.

If you were unable to be part of these live sessions, the recordings are available in the blog.

Even though these talks were given in two weeks, “In Motion Blog” will remain available at our website.

Gain Access to all the videos on majors, inspiring experiences of Prescott Alumni, virtual stands with the most relevant information from each university and institute, articles, vocational tests and a special section on IB Diploma!

*Remember that the username to enter is the Prescott email address of each student and the password is their DNI number.

New virtual experiences in several academic competitions!

At home, but moving on. Our students keep living new virtual experiences, this time participating at competitions:

G7 Youth Summit: Top Level G7 Model organized by Knovva Academy, where our students attended as observers in forums and discussions on world topics with students from several countries..

MUN Altair Pilot: First pilot of virtual MUN where we took part with the Prescott Debate Club. Our students of 7th and 8th grades interacted with students of other schools in Peru, discussing topics of worldwide relevance.

Cambridge College Virtual MUN: MUN organized by Cambridge College in Lima. Our delegation of 5 students represented us, and had the chance to do research and debate in English and Spanish with students from all over Peru.

“Juana de Arco” School Debate Competition: A competition of international debate with 12 motions that had to be researched deeply by the 3 students who represented us.

PIMUN (Peru International Model United Nations): International Model United Nations where we participated in several committees in English and Spanish.

Also, our teachers, representing Schools, participated in the First BEO International Summit, an important international event with conferences in English and Spanish given by experts from several parts in the world on virtual education and its challenges.

Without a doubt, experiencing this time of competitions in a virtual context presents a great challenge that brings along lots of learning and experience to our students and coaches. From home, we salute and congratulate the enthusiasm and commitment our students are evidencing!

Prescott Alumni in action!

Under the present circumstances, our Prescott Alumni have organized the campaign “PAL in action”, an initiative triggered by the solidary spirit typical of Prescott, which seeks to help people in need.

  • Donation of Personal Protection Equipment (EPP) to Honorio Delgado and EsSalud Hospitals in Arequipa

Among Prescott alumni, there is a large number of medical professionals and nurses working in several fields and who are fighting against COVID-19 in clinics and hospitals in the city and our country. With these voluntary donations, #PALinAction collected enough money to purchase the following equipment and materials: 4 stable stretchers, 20 yellow visors, 3 foldable stretchers, 10000 nitrile gloves, 150 antifog glasses, 5 clinical beds, 15 robes, 100 disposable hats, 500 disposable boots, 100 disposable safety outfits and 580 masks.

  • Support for children in Reading and writing in vulnerable zones in Arequipa

This year, many children in low-income schools in Arequipa will not be able to learn to read and write. Through voluntary donations, #PALinAction delivered 300 packs to families with children in first grade in the vulnerable zones in Arequipa, those who do not have access to distance classes. Each pack contained four Coquito books, which will help these children to meet their learning goals.

Many thanks to all Prescott Alumni and friends who support these initiatives! These gestures of empathy evidence the solidary spirit we instill from a very young age in our classrooms and characterizes our School!

Mention as best swimmer in Junior Open Water Class A

Our student, Ariana Cáceres Apayco, in 11th grade - Class of 2020 - Sweven, was nominated by the Arequipa Swimming League as the Best Swimmer in Junior Open Water Class A, due to her outstanding performance in previous participations.

Congratulations, Ariana! This achievement fills us all with joy and much pride!
