In the first image, I selected, Platon had his model look the other direction as he flexed his jawline. Also in this photo was expressing intensity. In my photo that I tried to imitate, I made my model (Ian) look the other way and flex his jawline too. Also, I tried to blackout his face the best that I could. I also had him stand against a white backdrop. These photos relate by having the photos look similar on how they were taken and edited. Also by having the same emotion of intensity.
In the second image, I selected, Platon had his model look forward with no expression. He also was just focusing on his face. The photo was also edited into black and white. In my photo that I tried to imitate, I had my model (Ian) look forward with no expression. The model’s expressions in both his photo and mine had a little bit of an RBF to it. These photos relate by the photos looking similar on how they were taken and having the same emotion/expression.
In the third/last image, I selected, Platon had his model look forward again, but he had a nice loving smile on his face. He also makes the viewing point the person’s face and making an effect of black and white on it. In my photo that I tried to imitate, I had my model (Ian) look forward with a nice warm smile. These photos relate by expressing the same emotion and also having a similar look to it.
Revealing something that people do not usually see.
In this photo I am walking my two dogs Sysco and Bailey. People not really knowing how much I love and care for my pets. People know I have dogs, but they do not know how much I do for them. I edited this photo in lightroom with different presets to give it a warm glow to it. Also I cropped the photo to make it look like I am going somewhere off screen.
Counter misperception that people have.
This photo relates to the prompt by people having a misperception of me not wearing nice things or even dresses. The thing is I enjoy dressing up and wearing nice things, but I sometimes feel insecure about what I wear. I edited this shot in lightroom with the presets to make the dress color to pop. I also rotated the photo to give it a more dramatic effect when you look at it.
Artful version of a selfie. This photo is an artful version of myself. Usually selfies are not really good at showing who you actually are. In this photo I am throwing up balling and expressing a better emotion then a selfie would. I edit this shot in lightroom with different preset to make the photo not look like a cloudy day.
For part three I choose to do unconventional beauty. I took pictures of everyday things outside my house. The first picture I took was of my mailbox. Mailboxes are usually not very appealing on how you look at them. I focused write on the mailbox to be the center of attention. The preset I put on it made the sky in the back pop. The second picture I took was of a lamp post outside of my house. Lamp posts are just there to give you light. I focused on the lamp post for the center of attention of everything. The preset on it made the blue in the sky pop and the grey in the lamp post look appealing. The third photograph I took was of a watch children sign. The signs are a ugly color of yellow and stand out. I took a birds eye view angle of the sign. Also the preset make the sky pop and made the yellow more warm. The fourth photograph I took was of a leafless tree. The trees in the winter are not as appealing as they are in the fall with all the pretty colors. I focused on the trunk of the tree and the preset made the bark pop out more and a nice shade of brown. The last photo I took was on a dog toy. Dogs toys usually got really disgusting at some points of their life times before the trash can. I focused the camera on the toy and the deck. I used the deck to lead the focus to the toy. I used a preset to make the dog toy pop out the most and be the center of attention. Before photography class I would not have been as observant of everything around me as I am now. The objects that I took photos of, I would not have seen the different side of them as I do now. Even though not everything in life is as pretty as a sunset, but you can see a different side of things.
I really like photography class this year. At first I really did not know how much I would like it and get into it. Also this class made me talk to more people out of my comfort zone since I did not know anyone. I really like how we learned the composition rules early and then put it into our work. I also liked how we had a weekly practice each week. It made us use our cameras every week and get better at using a camera. Another thing is that I liked is the amount of projects we did. Those made us do what we learned into a project. Overall I really like choosing this class for my elective and I will do it again.
