Spinach is one of my favorite vegetables. Did you know that spinach originated in Persia? Some of the health benefits of spinach includes eye health, reduce stress and blood pressure, as well as prevent some cancers. Wow, just thinking about this makes me love spinach even more.
Today, I am sharing an easy spinach calzone recipe.
Spinach Calzones
- 1 Pillsbury crescent dough sheet
- 1/2 to 1 cup frozen spinach (thawed and drained)
- 1 1/2 cup shredded Italian blend three cheeses
- 1/2 cup parmesan
- 1 T. garlic powder
- 1 cup Prego Garlic Italian Herb sauce (or any sauce you prefer)
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Use a sheet pan and cover it with a piece of parchment paper. Spread the crescent dough sheet on the parchment. Mix thawed and drained spinach with Prego sauce and a 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Save the rest of the parmesan for later. Place the filling in the middle of the dough sheet. Sprinkle the 1 1/2 cup shredded Italian blend three cheeses on the filling. Once you have it spread, fold the dough sheet over the filling and seal the edges. Last, sprinkle the remaining parmesan and the 1 T. garlic powder on the top of the calzone. Bake it in the oven for 18 minutes or until golden brown. You want to make sure the dough is cooked well.
From my kitchen to yours!
