It's Shootout Time!!!

Annual Event Promises To Be Exciting As Top Teams Compete

If you've attended the Shootout in the past you know just how good these games can be. This year will be no different as several ranked teams participate in the 24th Annual Dick Compton Memorial Basketball Shootout. All the action takes place at the Grand Forks Central Gymnasium on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Not only do the games have excellent competition, witnessed by thousands over the past years, but the Skills Contest is a blast as free throws, 3 pointers and dunks are on display beginning at 2:00 p.m. Not only is this a great event for the student athletes that participate but serves as a major fundraiser for the South Forks Lions as they can continue their tremendous service efforts in the community. So, mark it down on your calendar. Come early and get a good seat and enjoy a day of high school basketball by some of the areas best teams. Here is the schedule:

Game #1 - 11:00 a.m.: Warwick vs. Park River Fordville-Lankin

Game #2 - 12:30 p.m.: Mahnomen-Waubun vs. East Grand Forks

Skills Contest - 2:00 p.m.: Free Throws, 3 Point Shooting, Slam Dunk Contests

Game #3 - 2:45 p.m.: Crookston vs. Sacred Heart

Game #4 - 4:15 p.m.: Thompson vs. Four Winds-Minnewaukan

Remember the Shootout on Saturday, February 2, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Forks Central Gym.

Honduras Mission Trip Meeting Needs

Susan Zelewski MD, recently spoke to the South Forks Lions Club on the mission work the team from Calvary Lutheran Church has been doing for many years. The emphasis is on healthcare for children and families. Major areas of healthcare include - fluoride, first aid, and medication. Valley Memorial Homes Caring For Community Seniors

The President/CEO Garth Rydland recently spoke to the South Forks Lions Club. Mr. Rydland spoke on the many services provided by Valley Memorial Homes. Valley Memorial Homes serves a range of needs including - retirement community, senior apartments, assisted living, basic care, skilled care, transitional care and memory care. Mr. Rydland discussed the challenges the organization faces and also the tremendous support the community provides for these valuable services.
