The uab women's soccer team welcomes 11 new playerS to the 2020-21 roster. UABSports.com will provide fans an introduction to these new Blazers, with today featuring Anika Toth.
What made you choose UAB?
I chose UAB for the great academic and athletic programs offered here as well as the competitive yet welcoming environment on the team.
What are your team and personal expectations of the upcoming season?
In the coming season, I am excited to get to know my teammates as well as commit a lot of time and hard work into becoming better individually and as a team.
What do you intended major and what your career path?
I am not completely sure what major or career path I am going to take, however, I am really considering public health as a major.
How have you adjusted to campus life so far?
I have adjusted pretty easily so far because of my supportive roommates and the close proximity of everything on campus.
What were some of the challenges you faced between the beginning of the pandemic and moving onto campus?
Challenges I faced during the pandemic include my season and tournaments being canceled. A challenge that I had to overcome while trying to move on campus is the land border from Canada to the US being closed (I'm from near Toronto, Canada), meaning that I had to fly here and move in on my own rather than driving.
Did you develop any new hobbies while we in quarantine?
I developed the hobby of cooking and baking which I want to try and continue.
"Anika is absolutely thriving in her first semester at uab. The GK unit is a strong, competitive group and Anika joined in without skipping a beat. We look forward to her first challenge against outside competition in the next few weeks."
