NEW MUSIC
KAYO MAN 'YOMAN' (2021)
To kick off 2021, Kayo Man releases his latest project, Yoman. The 11-track album is a build-up of his journey in the music industry so far, and everything he's been working on lately. The title is an acronym for "Year Of Manifesting And New beginnings." Yoman features songs like “Talk That Talk” and “Take Off,” the latter of which was the most difficult track to complete according to Kayo.
“It wasn't really supposed to happen,” Kayo says. “But I kind of-- I really did miss my flight that day. I was supposed to go to Denver. Me and my engineer were pissed and we just said ‘Fuck it’ and we went back to the studio. We Uberred back to the studio and I was like 'Bro what should we rap about?' When he put the beat on, he was like 'Man we just missed the flight’ so that was the first thing that came to me off the top.”
Kayo Man has worked diligently to ensure that his new self-produced project is perfect. It's a testament to what he's learned about the music industry over the years from how to move to the do' and dont's. Listen and download the album on all streaming platforms now.
KAYO MAN - BIOGRAPHY
Kayo Man isn’t one to hop on someone else’s wave. The rapper straight out of Miami, Florida is determined to make a name for himself in the game as a prominent lyricist with his unique lyricism and meticulous beat selection.
Born Kyle Washington in 1996, Kayo Man was raised in the Seminola neighborhood of Miami. As a child, Kayo excelled in creative writing and aspired to become a rapper after watching the older guys on his block drop bars in cyphers. He dreamt up rhymes as his big brother bumped classic records from Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z. Kayo kept the melodies from the artists who inspired him and his passion for rapping in the back of his mind once he got into sports. He started off playing football before he eventually made it on to his high school’s basketball team. Kayo Man’s competitive spirit stayed with him while he began to take his music career seriously.
Once he graduated from college, Kayo Man hit the ground running and put all of focus on his budding rap career. Kayo got his first taste of the limelight when he first went on tour with Robb Banks in 2015. He traveled with Banks to several cities where he got the chance to increase his stage presence and show the fans what he’s made of. After the tour ended, Kayo continued to drop new music that would lead him to experience other educational experiences with artists in the studio.
In 2018, Kayo Man dropped songs like “Deja Vu” and “Proud.” Soon afterward, Kayo got an opportunity to hit the studio with rappers like Compton Menace, Sauce Walka, Marley G, Toosii, and L.A.’s J Stone. Kayo’s session with Stone led to his first major placement on “Chosen” which is featured on the L.A. artist’s 2020 album The Definition of Pain.
Before Stone’s album dropped, Kayo Man delivered his first body of work Sky High in 2019. The album contains 12 tracks like the Hov-inspired “Bonnie & Clyde” and “D’Evils.” A year later, Kayo Man followed up with his latest release Yoman.
Kayo Man is ready to tackle 2021 with everything he’s got. Just days after the New Year began, Kayo dropped off the video for his latest single “All Stars.” And there’s plenty more where that came from. Look out for more new music from Dade County’s next rap star coming soon.
