A Critical Look at Social Media's Effect on Consumer Trends Julio Balda

Goal Of Project

The purpose of this project is to explore the correlation between the rise of social media, and consumerist habits, and trends, more specifically within the clothing and fashion industry. This project will reach a target audience of young adults ages 17-25 using surveys, interviews, and methods learned from these two semesters and achieve the data to understand the effects social media has in creating consumerist trends in fashion and used as a marketing tool for companies. This research could help businesses, and entrepreneurs in expanding and marketing their content to a wider audience through understanding the power of social media to attract higher sales or interaction. The rise of new apps such as Tik Tok and the expansion of Instagram and Twitter have allowed many companies to expand themselves and their products through the media posted on these apps.
