#Sew@Home Scouting in luxembourg

Scouting in Luxembourg (SIL), a recognised National Scout Organization (NSO) of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), is a federation which represents the two National Scout Associations (NSA) FNEL (Fédération Nationale des Eclaireurs et Eclaireuses du Luxembourg) and LGS (Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten).

For the project #Sew@Home (#BitzDoheem) a video tutorial was created, a hotline was set up and bitzdoheem.lu went online.

Support from the Ministry of Health

On 11 April 2020 Scouting in Luxembourg presented the #BitzDoheem project to Paulette Lenert, Luxembourg’s Minister of Health

Presenting #BitzDoheem

Once volunteers signed up by calling the hotline, they received a box from their postman. As soon as the box was filled, the postman picked it up and all of the boxes were brought to the national sorting facility of the POST in Bettembourg.
450 volunteers sewed masks which were collected by the national postal service POST. Scouts were in charge to count, sort and dispatch the masks.
It was wonderful to read all of the messages which were added to the boxes.
Without the support from the national postal service POST this project would not have been possible.
