When to visit Fiji - While December to March can be more tropical, Malolo Island is drier than mainland Fiji all year round. All seasons are great for surfing at the nearby, world-renowned surf breaks including the famous Cloudbreak, and for all other beach and water activities. January to April is when the conditions are more likely to be suitable in Fiji for fishing. The sailing season in Fiji begins in April and ends around December. All-year-round activities include snorkeling, diving and surfing. October to April is excellent for snorkeling, while diving is at its premium from April to October. Surfers may find April to October offers the biggest swells.

Snorkeling - This activity is recommended all year round, although October to April claims to be the optimal period.

Diving - The dive season is all year round. The winter months of April to October represent the main season for scuba diving in Fiji in terms of visitor numbers, although the visibility tends to peak between the months of July and December when the water is cooler (sometimes, although seldom as cool as 22 C).

Surfing - Surfing in Fiji is a year round activity. April to October sees the SE trade winds greeted by an abundance of SW swells which transform the reefs into a true surfer’s paradise. Since this is the Southern Hemisphere’s winter the water can give off a slight chill if the wind is up but for the most part the adrenaline will keep your attention up and your body warm. From November to March the wave factory slows down a bit but there is still ample opportunity for any size swell. This time of year is accentuated with calm or light winds and glassy waters.

• Village visit and Kava ceremony: take a peek into village life with a trip to Solevu village on the Northern side of Malolo Island. Meet the villagers, take a tour of the school and be welcomed into the community with a kava ceremony, one of Fiji’s most individual and special of traditions. Present the village chief with kava roots before joining the circle to enjoy Fiji’s national drink, from the half shell of a coconut.
• Chef's Table lunch with our team: enjoy a lunch date with one of our management team and get to know the personalities behind the professionals.
• Beach volleyball with hosts: there’s no better beach sport than a spot of volleyball, so take on the team and show them your skills. Work out and work up an appetite for dinner at the same time!
• Fire Lighting ritual: as the sun begins to set join one of our Fijian warriors who will lead you down to Tovolea Lawn with a traditional Fijian torch. Use this time to share gratitude for the experiences of today and set intentions for your tomorrow before lighting a tiki torch of your own.
• Traditional Lovo feast: experience a Fijian family meal to remember as you tuck into a lovo feast of meats, fish and vegetables all prepared in an underground oven.

Under the Sea Excursions. The Mamanuca islands are surrounded by a stunning marine environment, blessed with fabulous warm water, colorful corals and an abundance of sea life. Scuba Excursions. With a plethora of magnificent dive sites within the Mamanuca archipelago, there are choices to suit all diving desires and abilities. We offer small group instruction and private dive excursions for beginner and certified divers. Duration 3 hours

Bull Shark Dive. This is a rare opportunity to dive with bull sharks. Get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures in their natural environment. This out-of-the ordinary adventure is not to be missed. Duration Half day

Snorkeling. You don’t have to travel far to find adventure. Find us at the Beach Hut for some close-to-shore fun in shallower waters. Explore our beautiful private bay and all the wonders it has to offer. Duration 30 minutes

Sailing. Windsurfers and Hobie Cats are available for hire. If you are comfortable sailing, you can be your own captain and enjoy. Wanting to learn the tricks of the trade? Take a lesson and learn the fundamentals. Duration 90 minutes

Kayaking. Single and double kayaks are available for exercise or just quietly cruising the bay.

Nighttime Stand-Up Paddleboarding. What better way to end your day than with a spot of SUP? Whether it’s a light workout you’re after or a peaceful way to wind down after a busy day, it has never looked more attractive than at dusk. Grab your board and paddle your way towards the horizon as the sun sets over the glistening waters while watching the stars settle in for the night. Helicopter Scenic Flights. To truly experience the beauty of our spectacular location, sometimes you need to rise above it all, and what better way to experience all the colors of our amazing ocean setting than aboard an Island Hopper’s helicopter for a sight-seeing flight?
