Rehearsal Live Share 1.04 Standard Audio Support. Scroll Down For More

Use Any Recording

We are thrilled to announce the next phase of our Rehearsal Live Share project: standard audio use. With the integration of RLS into our RMS Mix application, you can now have remote rehearsals with any audio. A quick sketch knocked out on your nearby acoustic piano or guitar? No problem! A sophisticated 16 channel band master you toiled over in Pro Tools or Logic? Absolutely! Tracks you purchased or commissioned from a third party? Whatever you've got.

Just upload standard wav or mp3 files into your custom show. Rehearse with the exact sound you want.

MIDI v. Audio

We began the RLS journey with standard MIDI in our RMS Coach application, but it was always part of the plan to allow for general audio rehearsing too. There are pros and cons to each. With MIDI, there is greater flexibility with cuts, tempo adjustments, key changes, and other common edits. With standard audio, you can generally get whatever sound you want, and with mobile devices readily available, you can quickly record your content with ease.

We see no reason to choose between the two. Each can be useful for different scenarios. What's more, with our RMS Creator platform, you can rehearse your own content with either or both for the same price.

A Quick Example

Here's a very short sense of an RLS session in action with standard audio. Five on a session in different cities and states, singing along in real-time to The Beatles.

Simple or Advanced

We designed the RLS implementation in RMS Mix for a wide range of use cases. Some people will just want to get basic recordings shared to their cast, ensemble or students as quickly as possible. We've got you covered. Others may want multichannel recordings, maybe for more individualized control of the musical elements or to offer adjustable guide tracks to the participants. Either way, once you have the recordings, you can be rehearsing in minutes.

You can go further still. The advanced user can also incorporate conductor tracks, which will allow for things like click tracks, both visual and audio, metric navigation, and more. A huge amount of creative possibility awaits!

Full Steam Ahead!

We are excited to get this very first release of RLS for RMS Mix out into the world. (You asked, we answered!) We know it will be useful right out of the gate, but there's still lots to do, especially when it comes to documentation. We're working on it. In the meantime, know that many of the same help articles and videos we originally prepared for RMS Coach also apply to RMS Mix. If things are unclear or you need a little guidance, don't hesitate to contact us.

And of course, there are many niceties to add and bugs we expect to surface. We will continue to release updates at least once per week, if not every few days. Big things are coming!

Note: this first release does not contain mobile support. That's coming. For now, the RLS functionality is only available for MacOS and Windows.
