Welcome back to another exciting year in physical education teacher education. I hope this year finds you eager to learn and inspired to become a great physical education teacher. The newsletter is packed with tons of useful information to help with navigating through the program. If at any time you have questions don't hesitate to contact me to set up an appointment. ADVISING WEEK: OCTOBER 14 - 18 DECLARED MAJORS - Mandatory Session MINGES A18, 4PM, 15TH; 3:15PM, 16TH
UPPER DIVISION INTERVIEWS: OCT. 14-18 Set Appointment with Mr. Pizzutilla
  • Date and Time: Friday, Oct. 25th & November 22, 7:30 or 8 AM
  • Location: Christenbury Memorial Gymnasium
  • Students must arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled test time with One Card.
2019 NCAAHPERD-SM CONVENTION Winston-Salem, 10/24-26
  • If you are interested in attending state convention, please let your program director know! Faculties and students will leave the campus early evening on October 23, Wednesday.

NEW GRADUATE STUDENTS 2019-2020

  • Trevor Goltermann is a new graduate students in the Master of Arts in Teaching [Physical Education]. He graduated with a BS in Health Fitness Specialist. He currently lives in Greenville and enjoys being physically active, going to athletic events (e.g., ECU football games) and coaching.
  • Christi Farrell is originally from Newport News, VA and recently graduated with a BS in Athletic Training from ECU. She is pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching [physical education]. Her goal is to work in the high school setting as both an athletic trainer and a physical educator. She also works as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness.
  • Alyssa Spruill also graduated from ECU recently with a BS in Exercise Physiology. She is now pursuing her Master's degree in Kinesiology with APE concentration. She now works as a research assistant in Department of Kinesiology (Project Mentor) and Engagement and Outreach Scholar Academy (EOSA). In her free time, she works with kids with disabilities in a dance setting and loves going to the gym.

ACHIEVEMENT

SAVANNAH WOOD, a senior student, is a recipient of 2019 NCAIAW Female Athlete Scholarship from NC Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance, and Sport Management (NCAAHPERD-SM).

RESEARCH WORK IN ACTION

Dr. Bomna Ko and Mr. Collin Brewer (Alumni 2017), Health/PE Teacher at Lakeforest Elementary School presented their collaborative project at 2019 SHAPE America National Convention in Tempa, FL.
