We asked K-State's coaches to share some of their favorite memories from working with student-athletes over the years...
Pete Hughes - Baseball
“My favorite memory was June 12, 2018, the day I was introduced as head baseball coach. On that day, not only did I become a part of a university and an athletic department built on high values and integrity, but my family became members of one of the greatest college communities in the country.”
Cliff Rovelto - Track and Field
“After being at Kansas State for 34 years, if there was only one thing I could point to that was the highlight of my time here there is probably something terribly wrong. I’ve been a part of five Big 12 Team Championships, 176 individual Big 12 Champions, 269 NCAA All-Americans, 10 top ten NCAA Championship finishes, 21 individual NCAA Champions, and multiple Olympic and World Championship participants, including Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists. I don’t want to be dismissive of these achievements, but what is most meaningful is being a part of the amazing transformations that many of our student-athletes have experienced. I’m not necessarily speaking of just their time at K-State, or just what they’ve accomplished athletically or academically. I’m speaking more to the personal growth and contributions they have made to their families, employers and communities. The challenges that they have overcome in order to become the adults they are, has been an amazing thing to witness.”
Bruce Weber - Men's Basketball
“My family and I have been blessed with many great moments during our time at K-State. From winning two Big 12 Championships, including the first one in more than 35 years in our first season in 2012-13, to the team’s incredible run to the Elite Eight in 2018, we have been fortunate to be surrounded by tremendous student-athletes, assistant coaches, staff and fans. But I think the greatest part for me is seeing many of our student-athletes graduate from a great school like K-State and go on to become caring husbands, fathers and members of their communities.”
Grant Robbins - Men's Golf
“We’ve had a few memorable achievements in the past couple years, including Jeremy Gandon ’19’s Big 12 Championship, our team win at Mission Inn, as well as getting three individuals into NCAA Regional play in 2019 and finishing third at this year’s Big 12 Match Play Championship. But, I’d have to say our biggest moment as a team has yet to happen, though we’re well on our way to achieving it.”
