Book of the Month
The New Education, authored by Cathy N. Davidson, explores how to revolutionize the American University to help students thrive in a changing economy. Davidson provides practical strategies that faculty in any discipline can incorporate into their courses to foster student-centered learning that values creativity.
In MCM 2341-W1 - Digital Convergence, students use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom to create scrapbook collages showcasing their interests and hobbies. They are graded using a media literacy rubric that also provides expectations for the project. This is the major project for our digital imaging and photography module.

Research Participation Invitation
Gwendolyn A. Godard, doctoral candidate at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University’s College of Education, Department of Leadership Studies, and Adult Education is looking for faculty to participate in a research study, Lived Experiences of HBCU Faculty Implementing Universal Design for Learning Guidelines and Applications in the Online Environment.
The study procedure involves ten (10) to twelve (12) faculty members at three HBCU institutions in the southern region of the United States (1) completing a preliminary online questionnaire, (2) participating in a web-conference interview, and (3) submitting a copy of a course syllabus and a list of UDL tools utilized in the delivery or design of the course. The online questionnaire contains 11 questions and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. I have seven questions that I would like to ask the participants during the web conference interview, and it will take approximately 45 to 90 minutes, depending upon their responses. By participating, Gwendolyn hopes to understand what factors influence HBCU faculty member’s implementations of UDL guidelines and how they utilize these applications in the online environment. Below are the minimum selection criteria for participants.
- People of Color
- HBCU faculty member with two or more years of experience teaching or developing undergraduate or graduate online courses at their respective University
- Familiarity with UDL guidelines and applications
If you would like to participate, please contact Ms. Gwendolyn Godard at (336) 314-6128 (cell) or godard@ncat.edu.
