"Wait that seems silly, what do students at other schools do then?"

There's no straight path to success, or to graduation

GAIN CONFIDENCE

Small assignments in class pave the way for impactful projects outside of class

two roads diverged

“Stories that sing, infographics that awe, and content that's smartly packaged; socially shared and sparks conversations. - We don't do trending stories. We make stories trend - We don't do pyramid style. We do eye-popping visuals - We don't do status quo. We dream up inspired initiatives.”

STUDENTS ARE COMMUNICATORS

"The new public health curriculum is emphasizing different ways to share data and information with the public. We had to think of ways to inform a community of the most prominent health issues they encounter, so I made an infographic as an easy way to visualize my findings."

Luke Buxton

Media and Journalism

STUDENTS ARE ACTIVISTS

“I was in a communications class with 6 other athletes, and our final presentation was to give a speech on a social issue we cared about. I noticed all the athletes spoke about an issue in athletics- gender equality, mental health, stereotypes. UNCUT started because I realized there was no platform that existed for student-athletes to share the stories of their passions, their struggles, their goals.”

Global Studies and Economics

STUDENTS ARE STORYTELLERS

"I wanted to create a journal to be able to look back on from my experiences abroad. I took an English class where we had to do a Humans of UNC, so I thought it'd be cool to do it again in Argentina."

Maria Furtado

Public Policy

STUDENTS ARE COMMUNITY MEMBERS

"I wanted to find a way to bring together the community where my grandma lives in Brazil. In one of my English classes, we had to write poems about where we were from. That's when I got the idea for this summer to assemble a poetry and art book with pieces created by members of the community."
