The Coker University men's soccer team is entering the final stretch of the season as they travel to Greeneville, Tennessee to take on the Tusculum University Pioneers on Sunday (Oct. 27) at 4:30 p.m. With only four games remaining in the regular season, each and every match is critical for the Cobras. Coker will look to bounce back after a tough 2-1 loss to Queens University on Saturday (Oct. 19) with a victory against the Pioneers.

"Sunday's match is a very important game," said coach michael antoniewicz. "our team must remain confident and patient in executing the game-plan."

The Tusculum University Pioneers come into Sunday's (Oct. 27) match with a record of 4-6-2 and a 3-3-1 clip in the South Atlantic Conference. Last season, the Pioneers finished 13-7-1 with a 6-3-1 conference record, reaching the second round of the NCAA DII tournament. Tusculum has won three of the last five SAC Tournament titles.

Prior to the season, Tusculum was picked to finish fourth in the SAC preseason coaches poll. The Pioneers return eight starters from last year's squad. Fabian Proesch and Georgios Charkoutsakis were named to the first team, while four other Pioneers earned second team honors.

"Tusculum is a very talented team," said antoniewicz. "they have skilled players in all areas on the field, will be a tough challenge for our team on the road."

Player to watch

Devens, a senior midfielder from Brazil, leads the Pioneers with 14 points on the season (five goals and four assists). Devens scored one goal and assisted on another in Tusculum's 6-3 victory over Catawba on Saturday (Oct. 19). He was named to the preseason SAC All-Conference second team.
