- Paralyzed Veterans of America Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation, July 1: The Paralyzed Veterans of America Spinal Cord Injury Research Foundation provides grants to promote innovative research to find treatments and cures for paralysis. The grants also support efforts to improve lives of individuals living with spinal cord injuries or disorders until treatments are found. In addition, the foundation funds SCI Fellowships to encourage young researchers to specialize in the area of spinal cord research.
- Environmental Influences on Aging – Effects of Extreme Weather and Disaster Events on Aging Processes (NIH, R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed), July 8 and Nov. 4: The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support research that focuses on how extreme weather and disaster events impact older adults and the behavioral, biological, epigenetic, genetic, neurological and socioecological processes that affect the aging process. The ultimate goal is to improve the health and well-being of older adults via increased knowledge about extreme weather and disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
- Leading Engineering for America's Prosperity, Health, and Infrastructure (NSF, LEAP HI), July 15 (Letter of Intent): The LEAP HI program challenges the engineering research community to take a leadership role in addressing demanding, urgent and consequential challenges for advancing America’s prosperity, health and infrastructure. LEAP HI proposals confront engineering problems that are too complex to yield to the efforts of a single investigator ¬– problems that require sustained and coordinated effort from interdisciplinary research teams – with goals that are not achievable through a series of smaller, short-term projects.
