CELEBRATING IN LYONS NATION
On Sunday, April 28th, the Mount Holyoke College Athletic Department held its Annual Year-End Celebration where a number of awards were handed out to student-athletes, coaches and department members. This year's Laurie Priest Alumnae Association Scholar Athlete Award was presented by Jen Grow '94 to Lyons field hockey senior captain, Mirjam Keochakian (pictured middle). MEDALIST HONORS! For the first time since the 2015 season, the Lyons had a NEWMAC Champion as sophomore Hannah Rieders (pictured front right) won the 10000-meter event at the 2019 NEWMAC Track & Field Championships at Springfield College on Saturday. In addition to her Gold medal, she was also named to the All-Conference First Team, while sister, Madeline Rieders (pictured front middle) earned Silver and All-Conference Second Team recognition for taking second in the 10k! Sophomore Simone Jacob (pictured front left) was a Bronze medalist after earning third in the 1500-meter event. Overall it was an outstanding day for MHC, which took seventh with 47 points!!
LACROSSE LAST WEEK
MILESTONES MET! With her seven goals and eight points achieved last week, rookie Abby Baldwin became the first Lyons player to record 60 goals and 70 points in a season since 2014. MHC closed out its season last week with tough losses to both Smith and the conference's only undefeated team, Babson.
TENNIS LAST WEEK
NEWMAC QUARTERFINALS! For the 15th straight season, the Lyons earned a spot in the NEWMAC Tournament. #4 MHC welcomed #5 Wheaton for the fifth-straight season in a Battle of the Lyons. Despite a number of tough matches, including the last two that went to three sets, Mount Holyoke shouldered a 5-3 decision to Wheaton, who advanced to the Semifinals.
RIDING last week
ON TO NATIONALS!! The Lyons were idle last week, but return to action this week at the 2019 IHSA National Championships in Syracuse, N.Y.

ROWING last week
NEWMAC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS!! Juniors Elizabeth Hazen and Hannah LeBlanc were named to the conference's Second Team following an outstanding morning of racing at the 2019 NEWMAC Championships. The #15 Lyons finished fourth overall in a field were the top four teams were all nationally-ranked. The varsity eight posted fourth overall, while the second varsity eight powered its way to sixth overall.
GOLF LAST WEEK
BRAVING THE WIND AND RAIN! The Lyons golf team was back on the links last weekend, competing at the 2019 Jack Leaman Invitational. The event, which was hosted by Amherst at the Ledges Golf Club, saw MHC battle Mother Nature as well as the other competitors. The squad finished eighth overall, paced by rookie Cortney Qiu (pictured left), who was 31st overall after an eight-stroke improvement from day one.
