Diversity News
Our Diversity & Inclusion efforts are one of our top priorities. We will continue to keep you updated on how we’re encouraging important dialogue on our campus and within the Tulsa community. Here is a brief recap of our recent D&I progress:
- HISTORIC PHOTOS ON CAMPUS — We're updating a large number of the historic photos on campus to represent our current students and programs. This is a big project, and we have completed the first area, which you can see in the 2C hallway (Admin Building near Bill & Ruth’s). A huge thank you to LaDeana & Danny Bolton as well as the Operations Team for their help with this important project.
- IMPLICIT BIAS — Nearly 100 people registered for Dr. Jabraan Pasha’s talk on “Unlocking Implicit Bias.”
- PRIVILEGE — Dr. Lisa Byers launched the “Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible” series. Click here to learn more and RSVP for Session 2.
- MYANMAR LUNCH & LEARN — Did you know 7,000+ Zomi people live in south Tulsa? On May 2, hear about “A Growing Minority: Myanmar Health Needs in the Tulsa Community.” Click here to learn more & RSVP.
OU-Tulsa Annual Report
As a part of the OU-Tulsa family, each one of you have been instrumental in our success last year. We are pleased to present the 2018 OU-Tulsa Year in Review. If you have potential story ideas from this year to feature in the 2019 report, please email them to OUTulsaGives@ou.edu.
2019 Research Week Recap
The first week of April, we held our annual OU-Tulsa Research Week, with daily events highlighting research. The largest of these events is the OU-Tulsa Research Forum, where 73 posters by OU and TU fellows, residents, and students were showcased. Click here to view our 2019 Research Forum Winners.
A huge “Congrats!” to all our winners and a grateful thank you to all the groups that made Research Week possible: ORDSA (Office for Research Development & Scholarly Activity), the Schusterman Library, Scholar Squad, and the Student Government Association.
Sustainability News
I’m also happy to share that OU-Tulsa is now a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. AASHE empowers higher-ed faculty, staff, and students to be effective change agents and drivers of sustainability. Membership extends to everyone at OU-Tulsa, so our entire campus has access to AASHE’s online resources and opportunities for networking, information sharing, collaboration and professional development.
To create an individual account, go to the create account page and complete a user profile using your campus email address. To learn more about all the resources available to you, contact sfowler@ou.edu.
Sooners Helping Sooners
Sooners Helping Sooners is a student-led organization which raises money to provide grants for students experiencing hardships who are in need of emergency financial assistance (tuition is excluded). OU-Tulsa students would apply under their respective “Norman” or “HSC” programs.
