I recently bought the Stila Suede Shade Liquid Eyeshadow in the color “Something Blue.” Here are some of my thoughts.
This is a color that isn’t so easy to find or recreate. There are iridescent pearls in this formula which give it a touch of a shine, but since it is subtle, the shadow still appears to have a matte (almost satin) finish. The added dimension is nice to keep your eye makeup from looking too flat.
The benefit to using a liquid eyeshadow versus a traditional powder eyeshadow is the buildable coverage that they allow for, with such a small amount of effort. No need for brushes, this product blends easily with your fingers or even the applicator wand itself with enough practice. This particular eyeshadow is just creamy enough to blend out into a soft sheer coverage. And if you keep the layers thin, and let them completely dry before adding more, you will get a flawless more opaque result. A little bit goes a long way.
In this look, I layered the Suede Shade with Stila’s Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in the Shade “Into the Blue”, and I believe the two paired together perfectly. The deeper tone of the Glitter and Glow shadow ended up giving my eye shape a bit more depth.
All in all, I probably wouldn’t wear this color everyday, but the quality of this eyeshadow has me interested in shopping the other colors in this line. The creamy consistency, quick application and long wear is enough to get me excited! It is the perfect addition to my makeup collection.
