INTRO TO ANIMATION COURSE @ Sisler High School with Mr. Jamie Leduc

ANIMATE: (VERB) THE LATIN WORD ANIMA MEANING "BREATH, SOUL" THAT GAVE US ANIMAL HAS GIVEN US OTHER WORDS. THE ENGLISH ADJECTIVE ANIMATE MEANING "ALIVE" COMES FROM THE LATIN VERB ANIMARE MEANING "TO GIVE LIFE TO," WHICH IN TURN CAME FROM ANIMA.

Below is an animation created in two hours by 50 students one the guidance of Disney animator Trent Correy at our Sisler Animation Jam. For this animation, each artist had to start & end with a circle in the middle of their canvas.

THE PERSISTENCE OF VISION IS THE RETENTION OF A VISUAL IMAGE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE STIMULUS THAT PRODUCED IT: THE PHENOMENON THAT PRODUCES THE ILLUSION OF MOVEMENT WHEN VIEWING MOTION PICTURES.
