Hello everyone.
Quick, what comes to mind when you think of Japan?
Sushi?
It's certainly one of Japan's most popular dishes.
Anime?
Yes, everyone loves Japanese anime.
I think it is one of the things that the Japanese people should be proud of in the world.
Tokyo Olympics?
It was very exciting. There were some controversies about the opening ceremony, but I think there were some performances that were uniquely Japanese and conveyed the appeal of Japan.
But...
People need to realize the appeal of J-pop more!
There are so many cool songs out there, but J-POP tends to be consumed only domestically for some reason.
It's so frustrating!
That's why I've chosen four recommended songs that I think non-Japanese listeners will enjoy.
1.Odo
Ado is a singer who is rapidly gaining popularity in Japan, and her appeal is her voice. She sings in a variety of ways, from powerful and shouting to delicate and pretty.
The song "Odo" sounds like dance music, as you can tell from the fact that it means "dance" in Japanese. It has a Western feel to it, so it may be easy for you to be familiar with.
It is very cool and addictive, and once you hear it, you can't get it out of your head.
2. Ussewa
If you like her song, I also recommend this song. It's a poignant song about the heartbreaking cries of youth and was a big hit in Japan last year.
3. Into the Night
This song features a complex melody line. The vocalist, Ikura's light-hearted singing style is very pleasant to listen to.
The lyrics may be a little sad and shocking, but I think they will touch your heart and make you feel very emotional.
This one is sure to be one of those songs you'll listen to over and over again!
4. Sinzou wo Sasageyo
This song was the theme song for the second season of the popular manga "Attack on Titan. Now that the manga is complete, listening to it again, you'll definitely be moved by the various scenes it reminds you of!
・・・What do you think?
I hope that ISB students will come to love J-POP, which is often consumed only in Japan.
If you find a song you like, please share it with your friends and family!
See you then.
