Super Bowl 53 By: Zach Quinn

The New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3, behind a strong defensive performance from a Patriots team limiting the highest scoring team in the league to 3 points.

The calm before the storm. A whopping 70,081 people attended the lowest scoring Super Bowl in Super Bowl history.

Pre Game

To kick off the action on Super Bowl Sunday, R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle sang "America the Beautiful"

After the sisters performance, Gladys Knight walked out on stage and blessed the world with her wonderful National Anthem performance.

1st Half

One of the most entertaining events of the 1st half was the coin toss, the Patriots called heads but the coin ended up tails. The rams got a choice and chose to kick the ball off.
The story of almost the whole 1st half was no team could score and had to punt. Johnny Hekker broke the record for longest punt in Super Bowl history with a punt of 65 yards.
Kicker Stephen Gostkowski puts the Patriots on the board early in the 2nd quarter 3-0.

Halftime Show

Adam Lavine came out first and had a strong start to his halftime performance, but then things started to get funky. After all other performers, Adam proceeded to take off his jacket and shirt and nobody wanted that to happen.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, fans all over wanted a Spongebob performance. This was due to the creator of Spongebob passing away late in 2018. The Super Bowl made this happen with a collab with Travis Scott for his song SICKO MODE.

Travis Scott had a very 'Interesting" performance. After the show people were criticizing him on his performance and saying he only did it for the $500,000. In the end Travis did donate all of the money he got to a Dream Corp charity, an organization for social activism.

Rapper Big Boi made a brief appearance singing one of his original songs from his group Outkast. The jacket definitely gained him more popularity.

2nd Half

Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein ties the game late in the 3rd Quarter at 3-3.
Halfway through the 4th Quarter, Running Back James White scores the games lone touchdown. After the extra point was made, the score become 10-3 Patriots with 7:00 left in the game.
An interception by the Patriots hurt Rams fans all over the world. The interception occurred with 4:17 left in the game and chances of a comeback were almost to none.
After the interception, the Patriots got held to a field goal and made the score 13-3 with 1:12 left in the game.
The New England Patriots came out on top in Super Bowl 53. The lowest scoring Super Bowl in history but the Patriots won't complain.
