End of the Year SCROLL DOWN FOR TELP RESOURCES

Unplugged

With only 20 days to go I thought I would give you a few TELP tips to end the year on. Want to promote computational thinking in your students? Computational thinking is the process of defining a problem and it's solution following logical steps. It is a skill we all use. Here is a link to a series of unplugged coding lessons. (No iPads needed) My favourite is the binary bracelets.

End (or beginning) of the Year Google Slideshow.

I was recently working with Kevin Allear at McNaughton. He decided to put a qr code into the yearbook that would link to a interactive student google slideshow. Here is a template of the slide show instructions he used. It would also make a great beginning of the year project. Each student contributed to a seperate slide with info specific to them. i.e. favourite quote, song, etc...

Teach the Teacher

Usually this is the time of year when I have the students reflect on my teaching practices. Before they do so however I make sure they have had an opportunity to actually experience what it is like to teach. Here is a template for a google slide presentation which outlines this task for the students. It includes some google forms that they and you can use for reflection and assessment. I used slides carnival to create the template. If you have not already seen this check them out.

End of The Year Digital Breakouts

I do not have the answers to these so if your students are the first to breakout please share for bragging rights!

Summer Institute

Summer

Lastly, thanks for letting me work with you this year. It has been an amazing learning experience. I put together a google sheet of some of the reoccurring themes in our PLC's with links. Reach out if you have any questions. Enjoy your summer and take time to refresh yourself. If you are looking for some back to school inspiration come join us at Summer Institute on August 27th, it will be an incredible day of learning. If you can take some time while you're by the pool or on the beach to get your apple teacher certification it is well worth the investment. Thank you for being you. Here is one last video "Because of a Teacher".
