BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The NIttany Lions improved to 6-1 with an 85-64 victory over Syracuse at the Barclays Center Nov. 29. Lamar Stevens led all scorers with 20 points, while Mike Watkins and Myreon Jones each had double-doubles.

Watkins was named to the NIT Season Tip-Off all-tournament team with a game-best 16 rebounds and 15 points, while Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

HEAD COACH PATRICK CHAMBERS

  • Head Coach Patrick Chambers is in his ninth season leading the Nittany Lions and now has 133 wins at Penn State, fifth on the program’s all-time list.
  • Chambers players have earned 29 Big Ten Conference honors, the most under any Penn State coach.
  • Chambers has 14 wins over Associated Press-ranked opponents, most of any Nittany Lion basketball coach.
  • The Philadelphia native previously spent two seasons as head coach at Boston University, guiding the Terriers to their first NCAA Tournament berth in nine years in 2010-11.
  • Chambers was also associate head coach of a Villanova team that reached the 2009 Final Four.

  • A former consensus National Player of the Year and and No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick, head coach Danny Manning is now in his sixth season at Wake Forest and has guided two teams to NCAA Tournament appearances.

PLAYER TO WATCH: MYREON JONES

Sophomore Guard

  • Jones has had a breakout season, averaging 12.4 points per game and contributing a team-best 27 assists. He's also averaging a team-best 82.4 percent (14-for-17) from the free-throw line.
  • Posted a career-high 21 points at Georgetown, including 14 of the Nittany Lions' first 16 points in the first 5:08 of the game.
  • Played senior season at Lincoln Academy in Suwanee, Georgia, leading the Bulldogs to a 25-9 record.

The Bryce Jordan Center, one of the premier collegiate basketball facilities in the nation, is the home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Located on Curtin Road adjacent to Beaver Stadium, the spacious arena has a seating capacity of 15,261 for basketball and 16,000-plus for other events. The Jordan Center has a variety of uses, including athletic competitions, commencements and other academic events, trade shows, popular music concerts, artistic and cultural performances and family events. The Bryce Jordan Center is the largest arena in the state outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
