the LIVING MEMORY PROJECT
In 2019 and 2020 art photographer, Anand Chhabra (see his Punjabi Workers in the Black Country project here), worked with our second year photography students to create an exciting new project, inviting them to research, explore and respond visually to their own family archival images. They were asked to focus on images that resonated with personal significance - either for themselves or those depicted in the images and to reflect on changing issues around a sense of self, history and identity.
They then worked with someone close, to produce a handwritten interpretation of the photograph and produce a contemporary portrait. Anand has chosen the work of Annice Bradford to represent this project in the Living Memory published book.
