Coach's Comment: "[Andreasen is] truly a phenomenal teammate and player," head coach Jeff Jasper said. "What makes her so special is her intelligence coupled with a caring attitude about her team. She is a special talent: not only for her skills, but also for her compassion. Her kindness touches all of us. Some critics of the present youth sports culture say that players are less competitive and less engaged with their teams; Kelly answers those critics with a strong work ethic and brilliant insights. To coach her refreshes me daily and reinforces why teaching and coaching are the greatest professions."
The Lowdown: Andreasen scored 14 points, hitting two 3-pointers in Valley's 53-41 win over Fairlawn on Thursday. She also had an assist, two rebounds and two steals.
Expectations: “I just wanted to get better with every game and make sure that no matter what the score is, I am continuing to improve myself," Andreasen said. "As a team, I thought we would play consistently and playing as a team because we did lose a couple of players [from] last year.”
What She Likes Most About Basketball: Being a part of the team. "We are all really close, especially this year, because it is always a good atmosphere," Andreasen said.
Proudest Memory on the Court: When Valley won state sectionals last year.
Best Thing About PV: “I like the freedom that the students have, how close everyone is, and the school spirit,” Andreasen said.
