The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear October 2010

Looking back eight years to The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, it is hard to remember what it was all about. It was timed to take place just before the 2010 mid-term elections. The Rally was organized by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and, according to Wikipedia, "Its stated purpose was to provide a venue for attendees to be heard above what Stewart described as the more vocal and extreme 15–20% of Americans who "control the conversation" of American politics." Unlike other demonstrations and marches that I would attend in later years, this one had a somewhat lighthearted and party atmosphere to it. The only serious note was when Jon Stewart spoke at the end.

Sadly, the conversation has only gotten more extreme since then, and many of the issues people were concerned about in 2010 are the same issues people are still concerned about today.
