Sharon Thompson Wilson, LMFT

Sharon has particular expertise working with couples and individuals where the complexities of intimacy, infidelity, sex and the erotic are brought to therapy.

In 2008, Sharon reached out to Esther Perel for consultation, as many of her couples were presenting challenges related to sex addiction, disparate sexual desire, infidelity, questioning monogamy, polyamory, non-monogamy, and more. It was an opportunity, taken by her many times over the years, to stretch and learn through case consultation. Sharon continues to train with Esther after years of being in private and group consultation with her.

Sharon’s foundational core approach integrates and is deeply grounded in:

  • family systems theory,
  • the dual needs of attachment and differentiation,
  • multi-generational messaging and patterns, and
  • how childhood blueprints shape lives, sexuality and expectations for marriage, family and committed relationships.

Sharon will help you learn how to change the stance and the dance in the office, coming from whatever approach you use, deepening your work while adding new ways to get through the places in the work where you feel stuck, overwhelmed, lost and uncertain. You will explore what each partner needs to change, altering their interactions in sessions with your help as their trusted empathic choreographer. It is through the lived experience in the safety of your presence that couples might change their circular interactions from reactive survival stances, to loving and growing intimate conversations, where real transformation is possible.
