Joseph Tipay working in his studio

This year's juror is Joseph Tipay, printmaking instructor at Merced College, who also teaches at Madera Community College Center, West Hills College, Valley State Prison and Avenal Prison. He received an M.F.A. from Academy of Arts University, San Francisco in Fine Arts: Printmaking. His prints deal with the struggles of his family and the beauty that comes with adversity. They are a reflection of the economic, cultural, political and social climate. He is an award-winning artist and has been exhibited nationally.
