Team Echo

Concept ideation

For this project, we were tasked with designing an app that solves a problem we identity. We started brainstorming problems and potential solutions, and narrowed in on three initial concepts.

After doing some research on our initial ideas, we decided to eliminate "Restaurant Roulette" because those features already exist in popular apps, and our idea was not unique enough to warrant a separate app. We also eliminated "Substitutions for Food" because there are also several apps that are similar to our concept and we did not think it had as much potential as the "Recipe Generator" concept.

Team Echo discussing different app concepts and narrowing them down to the three listed above.

Competition

We researched apps similar to our concept to see what our competition is. We examined the strengths and weaknesses of each app and considered the above when developing our own.

Flow Chart

We created the following chart to get a better sense of how our app structure works and where the features will live.

Surface

Wireframes: Lo-Fi

Graeme sketched some low-fidelity wireframes to get a better idea of what features and screens our app will need to include.

We used a paper prototyping app to create a simple prototype and conduct basic user testing on the functionality of the app though the use of these wireframes. We wanted to see if we were missing any key navigational elements, like buttons, or important screens.

Wireframes: Mid-Fi

Based on the wireframes sketches, Michaela created two similar Mid-Fi Wireframes.

The wireframe on the left has rounded elements and a stacked lists interface while the wireframe on the right uses square elements and has a carousel lists interface.

Surface: Hi-Fi Version 1

After receiving user feedback on the mid-fi wireframes Graeme developed the first hi-fi interface.
