October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
More than one in five students reports being bullied at school each year. From name calling, being made fun of, or physically harmed, adolescents who are picked on by bullies find that it can be fearful to go to school.
Bullying does not happen only to pre-teens and teenagers, it also escalates to college levels, and later continues to adulthood at work and at Social gathering.
Early education from parents and teachers is essential to guide children to understand that we are all different and that we need to love and respect everyone.
Parental education starts the moment children are born. That is when they learn the foundation of social skills and behavior. Don’t bully them yourself because children observe in silence their parents behavior. Teach them to love, not hate; to hug, not shove; to respect, not condemn; compassion, not aggression; tolerance, not impulse. But bullying education doesn’t stop there - as they grow, and you recognize aggressive behavior patterns, at any age, show them that you care and that you love them.
