Note from our Head
Dear Oakfield families,
The festive spirit has certainly been alive and well at Oakfield this week. We have seen our Y1 and Y2 nativity, our School Christmas lunch, Santa's visit to Oakfield on Christmas Jumper Day, and, last but not least, our Prep Christmas Carol Service at All Saint's Church. These events have truly brought so much in seasonal warmth and cheer, particularly given these occasions were curtailed last year. In the words of our newly launched Oakfield Christmas song 'Xmas Together', how wonderful it is that we can "be together with love in our hearts".
My thanks to all the staff, children and families who have given so much to the success of these events. There is just under a week to go of term and I wish everyone lovely, restful weekends as we enter the home straight towards Christmas which includes the Nursery nativity, LF/UF nativity, OAFs carol singing and House Singing among others. Phew!

Carol Service at All Saint's Church
What an amazing service we have just enjoyed - we will have a video of the service to share next week but we hope all those who could attend enjoyed the readings and music!
Santa and Elves Visit Oakfield!
What a joy was had in Pre-Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 as Santa and his elves paid a flying visit to the children (once the reindeers were safely parked on the roof) and handed out Christmas treats and joined in lots of festive songs!
Christmas Lunch
We had a stunning, sumptuous Christmas lunch put on by Harrison's with our Hall transformed into a Yuletide emporium of deliciousness along with crackers, party hats and elves!
OAFs Christmas Trees

Dear Parents and Carers,
Thinking about where to buy your Christmas Tree this year? Why not buy from the New Leaf Shop, located next to the entrance to Platform 2 at West Dulwich Station.
For every tree bought by an Oakfield Parent or Carer £5 will be donated to OAFs. Please ensure you mention Oakfield School when buying.

Sports Stars for Last Week
We didn't feature them last week so take a bow our sports stars from last week! This week's Sports Stars will feature next week in the last Newsletter of term.
We have had a range of different Sports Stars from the swimming pool, netball court, cross country runners and even an entire House- in Pearsall! Last week Mr Heasman and Miss Emily have chosen Gymnasts, from Years 1 to 6, who have demonstrated a stand-out positive attitude to their training sessions.

Jiu-jitsu
Well done to Reuben who has recently moved up a belt to grey and white belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He does this at Dulwich College through the company Triccs. Well done Reuben!
Gymnastics Match Report
YEAR 6
In Year 6, children prepared a Powerpoint presentation in Spanish, about a Spanish speaking country. They could include locations, celebrities, food, interesting facts, or anything else for that matter! Mrs Diaz is very proud of their work, confidence and their Spanish skills.
YEAR 5
Victorian Day
Year 5 have had the most tremendous day being Victorians. The children engaged with the world as it was then; following the 3 Rs of Writing, Reading and Arithmetic. They got to make butter which used to have to be done by hand! Oakum picking was a real insight into life as a workhouse child as you can see from their faces!
Then they made Christmas cards and photographs – two inventions of the Victorian period which are still rather popular today!
YEAR 3
English
This week in English, Year 3 have been brushing up on their computing skills by typing up their spectacular stories! The children have been learning and practicing different features of Microsoft Word to do this.
Romans
The Year 3 teachers have been blown away by the amazing homework the children have produced for their Roman Soldier. The children were given an opportunity to present their brilliant work in front of their classmates and teachers. From hilarious and dramatic videos to detailed and informative PowerPoints, we've had it all! Well done Year 3!
UPPER FOUNDATION
ICT
This week we visited the ICT suite in the Prep building.
The children used a programme called Tux Tools. They painted, coloured and drew pictures. They added images and selected different 'tools' with the mouse. Impressive skills and such improvement!
LOWER FOUNDATION
The sound of the week was 'o' and the children had a great time tasting lemons and squeezing all the juice out of the oranges. The reinforced the sound of the week and following instructions such as; squeeze, twist and pour. The orange juice was a big success
