An Unconventional Love Story

From teaching high school science and math, to developing computer-based training in industry, to instructional design in higher education and online learning, I have been an educator for over 35 years.

But as with many love stories, I found myself becoming bored with my relationship....to teaching.

And I found myself thinking of my first love...my true love.

So I started on my MOOC journey.

I learned new things I could do in my own online classes, but I was frustrated, because I did not have the skills or resources to implement them.

And then my college obtained an Adobe Creative Cloud site license...

...and I became an AdobeGenPro-oholic.

Now I had the tools to transform my online courses.

I use Spark to create short videos to introduce the work for each week.

I use Illustrator to create a Eular diagram to classify Solar System objects.

And an infographic to explain classical conditioning.

And badges to add gamification elements.

I create screen capture videos to explain to my students how to navigate their online courses and edit them with Premiere Pro.

With Animate, I show the difference between different the types of planets.

And that's just the beginning....

I realized my love of teaching is intertwined with my love of learning.

To keep my love of teaching fresh, I need to remember to nurture my love of learning.
