A letter from Ralph Kennedy
September 2020
It is hard to believe that we have been in the Smyrna office 34 months. The COVID-19 virus has made it a quiet place of late. TFS staff continue to support our special folks in their homes and implement all of the required precautions to keep everyone safe. Most of our admin staff are working from home either full-time or part-time. I am sure it is hard for some of the folks we serve to understand the necessity of limiting their freedoms for the sake of their health. Visitors have been understanding for the most part of the need to limit access to the homes in order to protect those who live there. Everyone is hoping for a conclusion to this lifestyle and a return to whatever normal has become after a pandemic.
TFS opened our medical clinic to outsiders who have an intellectual or developmental disability a little over a year ago. Last month we received a license from the State Department of Mental Health to operate a psychiatric clinic to complement the medical clinic. We are in the process of hiring a psychiatric nurse practitioner to work ½ day a week in the clinic and a psychiatrist to supervise them.
The visitation limits imposed on all of us does not limit our ability to keep in touch. Check out the TFS website if you have not done so recently, and visit us on Facebook
Here’s hoping you have a wonderful fall and we can soon greet one another in person,
Ralph
