Sasquatch Duro Technical Guide Your adventure in Oakridge and Westfir, Oregon

We can't fit everything on the main website and wanted to provide you a bit more info for the day's Gravel Cycling event.

First off, please remember this is a timed event, and while we value you making it to the cut-off, winning your age group, we want you to do your best in this semi-competitive group event.

Beware of Sasquatch!

Thanks to the communities of Oakridge and Westfir for hosting and the Willamette National Forest Middle Fork Ranger District for working towards a successful special use permit.

Not Participating

Not part of the ride? Oakridge and Westfir have so many options to choose from for you or your whole family. Local accommodations, great hikes and outdoor activities and local food. Make sure to stop by the Oakridge Museum on 1st street in the event venue area

Whats Included

A well marked and substantially supported gravel grinder event with one aid station for the 32 Mile Little Squatch, two fully stocked aid stations for the 47 mile Bike Squatch and Three aid stations for the 77 Mile Monster Squatch. Bring your new Gravel Bike, Mountain bike or Cross Bike.

In addition all riders will receive:

  • Mechanical Support from the Willamette Mountain Mercantile AKA Oakridge Bike Shop Aid Charlie. Mechanical Support Aid Charlie Landspeeds Fix for the Monster Squatch
  • Custom Sasquatch Duro Socks or Custom T guaranteed selection 1 month prior to event
  • Drop Bag access for the Monster Squatch route Aid Bravo Mile 45
  • Live Results on the results tab at Mudslinger Events
  • Custom 1st place awards for the overall for both distances and podium glassware starting at 1pm at the Waldport Community Center
  • $10.00 post event meal voucher for Cowgirl Cookin

Where to Stay?

Best Western Oakridge or the Oakridge LodgeThe Oakridge Lodge is ten pedal strokes away from the start and celebration in uptown Oakridge. The Westfir Lodge is also a great place to stay in Westfir.

Camping areas includes but is not limited to Salmon Creek or Black Canyon. LINK to Camping Options

The Routes

All three routes start in Oakridge and feature a tough paved climb of over 1000 ft in the first 4 miles to sort things out before mile 7 and the gravel onslaught. What sets Oakridge and Westfir apart from other events such as the Oregon Coast Gravel Epic course is the smaller crushed gravel and a fantastic split climb before the real climbing takes hold after aid station Alpha.

Little Squatch 1:30 to 3 hrs, Big Squatch 2 Hrs 45 Minutes to 5 hrs, Monster Squatch Estimated times 4 hrs to 7 hrs. Be prepared for three distinct climbs for the little squatch, four different, including a nine-mile climb from mile 16 to Mile 25 and Five Distinct climbs, including a 10-mile climb from mile 16 and a 13-mile cumulative climb from mile 45 and aid station bravo. This 13-mile climb will allow the Sasquatch to be surly take you down on the Monster Squatch Route.

The online maps on the website have the GPS file embedded for you to download or use the ride with GPS ap on your smart phone. Please remember that our sweep riders and vehicles are pulling down the course so if you get behind our sweep riders or vehicles you are on your own to get back on track.

This event is timed to track your progress and to award some really cool podium glasses starting at 1pm while you are partaking in Yachats Brewing beer for those over 21 and Cow Girl Cooking Tex Mex for all.

For those with a Oregon Triple Crown pass you will have your points taken based on your age group result and tabulated for the best three of four finishes in this years Oregon Triple Crown. 15-24,25-39,40-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74-75+ all routes. Age is 12/31/Current Year

Our events feature aid stations with Hammer Nutrition on course and a host of other goodies for a great day on a gravel bike or hardtail MTB! Tire selection for this event is 32MM or larger with 35MM-38MM recommended.

After the finish line before Westfir, you will need to ride back to Oakridge and follow the Rules of the road. This final stretch is uphill for 2.5 miles and 7 in total back to Oakridge. We have another announcer in Oakridge to Welcome you back as you will be greeted with valet bike parking so that you can enjoy a delicious post-ride meal and complimentary beverages inside or outside after your effort with friends.
