Coker men's soccer vs. anderson (S.C.) SAC Men's Soccer Semis on Friday (Nov. 15) at 11:00 a.m.

The Coker University men's soccer team kept their season alive on Saturday (Nov. 9) by upsetting number one seed Carson-Newman 5-1 in the SAC Tournament Quarterfinals. A strong second half performance led Coker to the win, scoring four goals in the last 45 minutes of play. Christian Provenzano found the back of the net twice, and assisted on two goals in the victory. Lucas Miquel-Castrillo, Jacques Fokam-Sandeu, and Adam Kennedy also scored to guide the Cobras in the upset win. The Cobras will be advancing to take on the Anderson University Trojans on Friday (Nov. 15) at 11:00 a.m. in the SAC Tournament Semifinals.

Provenzano, a junior midfielder from Italy, is the leading scorer for the Cobras this season with 13 goals and nine assists (35 points). Christian scored twice and assisted on two goals in the 5-1 victory over Carson-Newman in the quarterfinals. Provenzano was selected to the SAC All-Conference first team earlier this week. The Cobras are 9-1 this season in games that he has found the back of the net.

The Anderson University Trojans enter the SAC Tournament Semifinals as the number five overall seed with a 11-5-1 record on the season, going 5-4-1 in conference play. In the match against the Cobras on Oct. 2, Coker won by a score of 4-1. Christian Provenzano found the back of the net twice in the victory, with Robi Obrstar and Jacques Fokam-Sandeu each scoring as well.

Three different Trojans earned SAC All-Conference honors this season, as Ryan Tyrer and Harry Ward were named to the second team. Alexander Cox-Ashwood was also named as an honorable mention. Goalkeeper Gal Elyashiv was awarded the Stat Champion in Save Percentage with an .809 average.

Ward, the junior forward from Georgia, is the leading goal scorer for the Trojans with eight while also dishing out three assists. Four of his goals have been game winners. The Cobras kept Ward scoreless in the last match, and will need to do so again on Friday (Nov. 15) to advance to the SAC Championship game.
