Simba's BD pic. pets reading contest

And our Winner is . . . Zach!

Students and teachers submitted photos of their pets reading for this fun contest. We had pictures of dogs and cats reading, all kinds of amphibians and reptiles, bunnies, a chicken and even a horse reading with Ms. Pam. Ms. Pam's photo of her reading to her horse, Sabre blue won the teacher pets reading picture contest. Contests like these highlight reading and show students that reading can be fun!

Banned Books Week Ends

A short presentation explaining the importance of celebration was shared with teachers to share with their students. Many students do not understand the importance of the freedoms that we have in the United States. The Freedom to Read is about free choice, individuality and our 1st Amendment Rights. A contest to "guess the banned book" provides a hands on connection with a book they know.

What is TeenTober?

TeenTober is a new nationwide celebration by libraries held every October that's about everything "teen": teen tech, teen reading, teen writing and more. Its about advocating for teen services and resources in our libraries. Our library club will be hosting and developing ideas for this October event. Should be fun! So stay tuned and see what our students come up with for the first celebration of TeenTober at IMMS.

All our sixth graders have to do is read 10 award winning books and log them in on the Google Form to receive credit and get an invitation for the big event.

7th and 8th graders who participate will be invited to a special party in our NEW Library at the end of the school year. So everyone can enter, read amazing award-winning books and get together for a fun event, either at the High School or in our wonderful, beautiful new library. #IMMS_reads!
