Track

Overview

'Track' is a mobile app aimed at students to encourage them to engage in more physical activity and to educate them on the benefits of doing so.

The app aims to educate and engage students and consequently give them motivation to continue doing exercise as they can track the impact it is having and going to have in the future.

What the app does

An individual input's all their numerical body data and the app creates a realistic 3D model of their body.

When the individual exercises they can input what they have done into the app:

- They can have this information stored in customised workout lists so they don't have to type it in every single time

- Data automatically collected on phones can be uploaded e.g. step count

- New data can simply be typed in (with the option of saving it to a workout list)

The app then analyses this information and uses it to highlight different areas of the 3D model to show the user what parts of the body have been impacted. The user can then click on these areas for more information whereby they can view 'calories lost' 'immediate effects' and 'long term effects'. This allows the user to quickly gain a more in depth knowledge on how their exercise is impacting them. Users then get the option to view some recommended exercises for that part of the body, or to look at the next highlighted area.

Impact

This app is going to motivate students to participate in more exercise, encourage them to lead a healthy and active lifestyle as well as educate them on the positive benefits of exercise.

Alongside helping students, on a wider scale this app is going to help personal trainers in helping individuals create an effective exercise plan as they will be able to view past and current data regarding parts of the body that have been heavily impacted alongside the areas that could do with more development.

Doctors will also be impacted as students can show them their physical level of various activities and doctors can use this information to give recommendations for treatments, guidance and help.

What your money will go towards

Although I have created a mock up version of the app, I will have to hire a professional to officially design and code the app - so this is primarily what the funding will be used for.

The money will also be used for licensing.

By reaching the target amount through public funding it also means the app can be made free to the public to download.

Pledge

Donate any amount to receive a special thank you on our website

For £10 you will receive the app before anyone else and can give us feedback in order to improve the final version (which you will also receive first)

For £20 you will be included in the beta testing and exclusive workout features in the app

For £50 you will be included in the beta testing and 6 months of premium features including an in app personal trainer, workouts and access to all data collected.

For £60 you will be included in the beta testing and have lifetime membership to premium features.

Risks and challenges

When making apps there is always the challenge of making it look and function perfectly. Unfortunately there is always the risk of errors during coding and development. With your donations we will be able to hire a highly professional app developer who can minimise the likelihood of this happening.

Carrying out the beta testing will also allow us to highlight any issues or bugs within the app, meaning we can immediately get these sorted and make the app as perfect as can be thanks to your help!
