Learning Outcomes Assessment Beth Krensky, Department of Art and Art History

Art Teaching is a major in the Department of Art and Art History.

The BFA degree is intended to prepare school- or community-based visual arts educators or social practice artists.

The Learning Outcomes for the BFA degree are mapped to the University of Utah's Learning Framework.

We created a course outcome alignment grid to demonstrate how each course mapped to each of our Learning Outcomes.

We needed a way to collect data. We started requiring students to create ePortfolios using Pathbrite. We have mapped the ePortfolio categories to the same 4 areas of the University of Utah's Learning Framework.

Pathbrite ePortfolio

We plan to use all of the artifacts from the students' ePortfolios to assess the Art Teaching Area. In addition, we will use a formative assessment of student teaching at two points during the program.
