Recommendation Letters and how to get them

What is a recommendation letter? A recommendation letter is a letter used to accompany a resume or application to a job, program, school, scholarship etc.

Getting Your Letter of Recommendation: If you want a letter of recommendation from YES Staff, you must ask minimum two weeks before it is due. It is best to ask a staff member who knows you well and who you think will make a good reference for you.

A Letter of Recommendation request should be formal and polite and include the name of the organization or company that needs the letter of recommendation, the position or thing you are applying for, and a correct spelling of your full name. You can ask in person or over zoom or an email, but you should always follow up the "sure i'll write your letter" with an email with all necessary information. It doesn't hurt to use some flattery when asking :).
