COVID-19 Travel updates

Travellers entering Canada will be required to take a COVID 19 testing upon arrival. While waiting for results, travellers will need to stay at a government designated hotel – cost of testing and hotel stay to be paid by the traveler. Travellers are required to book a government-authorized hotel for 3 nights prior to departure to Canada. The mandatory 14 day quarantine must still be completed after receiving negative results. Please read the latest news release for more information. For further information regarding the mandatory testing upon and arrival and stay at a government designated hotel, please visit the Government of Canada website.

Air Canada is temporarily suspending flights to and from Prince Rupert - YPR (as of January 18th 2021). Air Canada is the only commercial air carrier that travels to and from Prince Rupert. The closest airport located to the community is approximately 2 hours away in Terrace, which is still in operation. To find out more please visit our Getting here page.

Please notify our international student advisor, Myrna Ordona before you make any travel plans by emailing mordona@coastmountaincollege.ca. You can visit our COVID-19 updates page here which includes our International Quarantine plan.

Post Graduate Work Permit update

The Government of Canada has adjusted the parameters for international students to qualify for a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). This means that "studies completed outside Canada will count towards a future PGWP, and by allowing international students to complete their entire program online from abroad and still be eligible for a PGWP. The measures apply to all international students who are enrolled in a PGWP-eligible program, and meet all other PGWP criteria." Go here for the entire news release.

Studying in northern British Columbia

International Recruitment Coordinator, Jessica Scafe, takes a tour through the Terrace campus. Terrace is the largest Coast Mountain College campus with lots to offer students.

The Terrace campus is finally getting new on campus housing! Coast Mountain College secured funding in 2019 and construction is well under way. There will be 104 rooms with four guest suites for visitors. CMTN has been consulting with First Nations Council and the First Nations communities we serve to design the look of the building inside and out. The housing will hopefully be completed in September 2021. Stay tuned for housing updates in the coming months.

Living off campus

Coast Mountain College has offers on campus accommodation at the Terrace campus but has limited rooms due to the COVID-19 protocols. Students who wish to come to Canada to study in country during COVID-19 restrictions should be looking for a place to live off campus as soon as possible. A shared apartment off campus is estimated to range between $500-$800 per month. Utilities may not be included. Visit our living off campus page for links and resources on how to find housing.
