Analyzing Our Research:

  • We noticed that as a player, you're the happiest when you put together the best combination of cards.
  • The interface will look different depending on who you are in the game. For example, if you're the Card Czar your screen will look different than that of the other players.
  • It will be very important to create the same experience players have when all of the combinations are finally revealed to all of the players.
  • Creating a feature where players are still able to switch out white cards they do not understand will be important.
  • Since players will not have the physical cards with them while playing the phone game, we can utilize different color codes to establish which cards do what.

Card Sorting - Key Insights

Yasmine and I began by hypothesizing which features we thought would be best grouped together in our Cards Against Humanity app. Following our hypothesis, we asked Tim to complete the card sorting exercise. We made a few changes based on what we found. We took away our 'Start' button which was set to appear following the splash screen. It felt extraneous and it was best to open on the 'Login/Create an Account' screen. We also decided to move some of the extraneous features such as notifications and settings into their own hamburger menu.

User Testing - Key Insights

Working from our question sheet, we conducted user testings on our low-fi and mid-fi wireframes. Most of what we hypothesized for our lo-fi frames was correct, however, we discovered we needed to make the change between the player screen and the Card Czar screen more obvious. We decided player screens should have a white background to match the white cards being played, while the Card Czar's background would turn black to match the black cards. Following the mid-fi testing, we received a suggestion from one of our users. They suggested we have a way to spend the points you gain in-game to give players more of an incentive to win. This way, you can walk away with more than just bragging rights. Yasmine and I also thought it would be fun to add a leaderboard to increase the friendly rivalry among players.
