Easter is one of my favorite holidays not only because the flowers are blooming and the weather is perfect (according to me lol) but because it’s a day that our family and loved ones come together and celebrate that He is risen!
My husband and I join forces to host dinner. He usually cooks the meat and his delicious creamy potatoes and I make the salad or homemade bread and set up the dinner table. I love a beautiful table setting! And of course each person brings a delicious dish to share.
A few weeks before Easter I set up a small table to have an idea of what my table will look like. My husband and I usually host more or less 16 adults. This year it will be a smaller group but nevertheless it needs to look beautiful. Over the years I’ve learned that a host should do as much work as possible before the event or else you are running around stressed doing things at the last minute and not having fun.
This year I decided to do a few hydrangea flower arrangements for the main centerpiece. They’re beautiful, great fillers, and you need just a few stems to make a few beautiful centerpieces. I picked up two bunches from Costco in two different colors. I use the green foam block to attach the hydrangeas. You need to soak the foam over night. The next day you put your foams in your wood boxes and start adding your flowers. I like to reuse my wood boxes so I add a liner to the bottom. I cut the hydrangeas into smaller stems to fill the foam. They love water, hence the name, so they do stay nicely in your wood box for a few days. I usually do my flower arrangements and set up the table the day before. I bought the foam and wood boxes at Michael’s. Here are a few pictures:
My birthday is in March so at times family and friends get me Easter related presents. This year I got these cute rabbit small plates from my mother in law. She got them from Home Goods. I stacked them on top of the salad plates for appetizer or dessert. I think they make the table look perfect for Easter!
