Dear University community,
It’s the first day of class for the Fall Semester 2021. Welcome! We are so glad to have you back on campus.
- Welcome Week is also underway, so students, please take some time to involve yourself in activities and be a part of the University’s life.
- Here’s a video suggested by members of our Student Government Association and our Faculty Senate on the recommended use of face-coverings here on campus. Please take some time to visit our COVID-19 Response Center and our Fall Together@TAMIU Plan for faculty, staff, and students for more on the University’s continued response.
- Last week, our faculty attended the traditional Fall Assembly and also welcomed 41 new faculty members to campus. We’re excited to have them join the TAMIU community. Find out more. We also provided faculty with professional awards and service recognition.
- Students: Applications for TAMIU CARES, with some $7 million in student emergency grant assistance continue until Sept. 8.
- Know any students still unsure about where they will land this Fall? Invite them to visit us at Future Dustdevils. If they are a transfer student, we’ve got some distinct additional opportunities. Late registration ends Friday, Aug. 27.
- Don’t forget: COVID-19 Vaccinations are available on campus. Current vaccinations with our National Guard partners will end with the Wednesday, Aug. 25 and Thursday, Aug. 26 offerings. Additional vaccination dates will be scheduled. More info is here.
- BTW, if you’d like to be eligible for some great prizes, including free tuition, consider joining our Be A Champ, Get the Shot campaign.
- Employees, you can also join the Be A Champ campaign and be eligible for nifty prizes as well. Here’s the details. Check out our new The TAMIU Insider employee digital newsletter for details.
So…here we go! Welcome to a full and vibrant Fall experience! We are thrilled to welcome everyone back, Together@TAMIU. Have a great week… and Go Dustdevils!

State Legislature Supports TAMIU's Path to Academic and Student Success with $6M in Funding
TAMIU's “Path to Academic and Student Success" (PASS) program is the recipient of funding totaling $6 million. PASS consolidates community college transfer specialists, peer mentors, supplemental instructors and tutors, counselors, and academic success coaches. It also expands our successful First Year mentor program to include the sophomore year and focuses on working with students as they navigate issues that generally arise as they progress through more difficult courses.
“After the flagship campus, TAMIU has the highest first and second-year persistence rates and six-year graduation rates in The Texas A&M University System, and rates above the State average. What PASS will strengthen is proven student success strategies to facilitate community college transfers, re-enroll upper-division stop-outs, and improve persistence and graduation rates for all students."
- Dr. Pablo Arenaz, University president
