1. Empathize
Who are they?
Many students at Cyprus University of Technology due to their busy schedule and shortage of money do not have time to cook healthy meals. These students are mostly independent and live on their own. Often, they do not have the knowledge of how to cook in general. At the same time, they have limited amount of money and they need to work to supplement their income. The target audience is between 18-26 years of age, from different countries and of any gender. Usually, they think: “I don’t want to eat every day the same meal”, “I don’t have much money for ordering food again”, “It will be better for me to have something quick to eat and healthy”. These students end up eating cheap frozen meals or fast food. This situation makes them unhealthy, and they often desire a cheap and healthy homemade meal.
2. Define
What do they need?
The problem of poor nutrition among university students has many symptoms, like the lack of vitamins that contributes to decreased concentration. Also, such students have low academic performance in their lessons, develop fatigue and their mental state drops more easily. As time passes, they become more prone to illnesses and this situation can lead to obesity. The direct causes that lead to this situation is initially, the low budget they have at their disposal and the limited time due to the pressures of the academic program. Another important cause is that they do not know how to cook, or they do not have the motivation to learn useful and quick recipes. Most of them prefer fast and easy food, and as a result they have an unhealthy lifestyle. We noticed that there is a need to improve the nutrition of university students with affordable cooking recipes.
