Probate Record Jerusha Fitch Meriam (1734-1776), second wife of the Rev. Jonas Meriam

Explore the Probate Administration file of Jerusha Fitch Meriam, who died in 1776. Included are her husband's consent to her will, which was a necessary formality in line with the prenuptial agreement he had signed, and the inventory of her property taken after her death. Pamela is not listed in this inventory because she was bequeathed to the Rev. Meriam and not part of the estate being divided among the other heirs.

Notice that on the amendment to her will, made out in October 1775, her signature is much shakier than it was on the original document. She was likely already suffering from the illness that ultimately killed her three months later.
