The Productive Teacher Organizational and Time Saving Tips for Teachers

Learn Zillion

Needing a lesson plan for math or ELA? After creating a free account on Learn Zillion you'll have access to tons of interactive, high standards based lesson plans. Student accounts can be created, their activity can be monitored and data can be tracked. There are a lot of free features, but districts can also purchase accounts that include more features such as curriculum maps and district managed assessments.

Online Boxing Timer

If you ever need help managing time while completing rounds such as Guided Math or Daily 5, the Online Boxing Timer will keep you and your students on task. This free website allows you to set up the number of rounds and the amount of time for each round. You can also include prepare time, warning time and rest time. The timer dings when it is time for the next round. There is an app for purchase in the Apple Store, but the website is free.

Bouncy Balls

Sound... we all have it in our classrooms and probably a lot of it, especially if you teach an elementary grade, but have you ever thought about how you could encourage your students to have productive conversations or limit sound? Bouncy Balls is a free website where the teacher can pick from four types of balls; standard balls, bubbles, eyes or emojis. Once the microphone is turned on students' sound changes the position of the balls. You could encourage your students to stay quiet or continue conversation so the balls do not stop. The more conversation volume, the more the balls bounce.

Screencast-O-Matic

Sometimes showing students how to use a website or app is the hardest part of getting started with a lesson or activity. Screencast-O-Matic allows you to create videos with audio and visual recording of what is on your computer screen. Let's say each year you do biography projects on Presidents. You could use Screencast-O-Matic to introduce all of the available resources to your students. You could save the video and use it each year instead of sitting at your desk clicking through websites.
